Guna:
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Friday that Congress sought votes in the 2018 Assembly polls on behalf of Jyotiraditya Scindia, but then formed a government in the state under Kamal Nath .
He was addressing a program in Bamori in Guna, part of the Gwalior region which is a stronghold of Mr. Scindia who moved from Congress to BJP in March of this year.
“Congress deceived people. It was like showing one person the bridegroom, asking someone else to lead the wedding procession and then get married,” he said.
“After becoming CM, Kamal Nath never went anywhere, but Mr. Scindia met people who asked him development questions,” he said on the occasion of Mahendra Singh Sisodia, a loyalist of Scindia who was a congressman from Bamori before joining the BJP.
“Sisodia says Kamal Nath’s favorite answer to any question about development work was that the state government had no money,” he said, adding that Mr. Sisodia had raised to his attention to projects in the region that had stagnated and that these would be restarted.
Mr. Chouhan and Mr. Scindia have laid the foundations for projects worth Rs 500 crore in the constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Scindia criticized Mr. Nath and Chief Congressman Digvijaya Singh for calling him a “traitor”.
“They call the head of the Scindia family a traitor. They would have to turn the pages of history to find that when injustice was inflicted on my grandmother (Vijayaraje Scindia), (former CM) DP Mishra must have bitten the dust. My dad started Congress MP Vikas to show Congress a mirror, ”Mr. Scindia said.
He said that Mr. Nath and Mr. Singh betrayed farmers and that he would take to the streets to make sure those people were defeated.
