The Congress Party has urged the government to inform the nation of the situation in Ladakh

New Delhi:

Congress said on Wednesday that the deadlock between the armies of India and China is a matter of serious national concern and urged the government to gain confidence in the country and respond to the concerns of the people.

Party chief spokesperson Anand Sharma said the situation in Ladakh following the incursion of Chinese forces into the regions of Lake Langong Tso and the Galwan Valley and the impasse between the armies of the India and China was a matter of “serious national concern”.

In a statement, he said that the various reports in the national and international media of the escalating tension and the persistent stalemate have caused anxiety among people.

“The Congress party urges the Indian government to build confidence in the nation to address the concerns of the people,” said the former union minister.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday called on the government to be more transparent on the Chinese issue and to be transparent about what is happening on the border with Ladakh.

There has been a confrontation between Indian and Chinese troops on the border in eastern Ladakh, amidst the accumulation of troops on both sides since early May.
