The Indore official demolished the illegal Computer Baba ashram built on government land.

Indore:

Former Minister of State Namdev Tyagi aka “Computer Baba” and six of his supporters were arrested at around 6 a.m. on Sunday, hours before the Indore district administration demolished its illegal two-acre ashram of 46 acre government land valued at approximately Rs 80 crore.

They were sent to central prison by the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) on charges of disturbing the peace.

Additional collector Ajay Dev Sharma said a 315 caliber rifle and air rifle were also found in Mr Tyagi’s ashram, which will be investigated by police.

The district administration said Mr. Tyagi had illegally occupied around 46 acres of public land worth around Rs 80 crore, at current market rates, for years.

On the ground, Mr. Tyagi had built his large ashram on 2 acres, which contained items of all kinds of luxuries.

Additional collector Sharma said the 46-acre land near Indore International Airport in the village of Jambudi Hapsi was donated to the district panchayat for the stable. “Tyagi occupied this land. They received notices earlier but they did not take possession away and therefore action was taken today. They were sent to jail after receiving a warrant from the SDM when they tried to stop the demolition and disrupt the peace. “

A force of 100 police officers, in addition to the district administration and municipal company officials, arrived on site in the morning to carry out the demolition.

Additional SP Prashant Choubey said those arrested were sent to jail after receiving arrest warrants from the SDM. “We are collecting licensing information from the rifle and air pistol seized during the search.”

It should be noted that Computer Baba in 2018 had corruption allegations against the then government Shivraj Singh Chouhan, after which he was appointed minister. Later, in the Assembly elections, he supported Congress.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh tweeted on Sunday: “The Ashram and Computer Baba temple are being demolished in Indore without any warning. It is a political vendetta. I condemn it.”
