Bhopal:
Amid the growing number of cases in Madhya Pradesh, the state capital, Bhopal, witnessed a medical feat today after a hospital dedicated to COVID-19 treatment became the first in the country to release 1,000 patients.
Chirayu Medical College released 108 patients today as it performed the feat. With the discharge, the number of recovery rates among patients in Bhopal reached more than 60%.
A small function was organized at the hospital where the patients shared their experience on their treatment there. Health Minister Narottam Mishra was among those who attended the event.
“I had been admitted for 12 days. The staff really took great care of us. They gave us the courage to fight the virus,” said Bhumika, a first-year student admitted to the hospital.
“I was admitted to the hospital on May 7. I stayed in the intensive care unit for 15 days. I am really grateful to all the staff at the hospital. They took good care of me during my stay here” said another patient.
Chirayu Medical College is one of nine hospitals that have so far been approved to conduct randomized controlled clinical trials as part of the WHO “Solidarity Trial” to find an effective treatment for the new coronavirus disease. “Solidarité” is an international clinical trial aiming to compare four treatment options against standards of care in order to assess their relative effectiveness against the coronavirus.
Madhya Pradesh crossed the 8-000 mark yesterday, with 190 cases reported in the past 24 hours.
