Patna:
Lok Janshakti party leader Chirag Paswan is expected to be the main ministerial candidate in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections and the party is expected to fight for 143 seats, LJP national secretary general Shahnawaz Ahmad Kaifi said on Tuesday.
It comes amid reports of confusion within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) over the sharing of seats in the state.
Mr Kaifi, however, said he had informed Chirag Paswan of the demands raised by workers and party members.
“Chirag Paswan is definitely the prime minister candidate of our party, there is no doubt. The leaders, the workers of our party are of the same opinion,” Kaifi told ANI.
“Party members also believe that we should fight for at least 143 seats in the elections. I too urge the party to fight for these many seats,” he added.
He added that Chirag Paswan’s decision in this case would be final and that it would come shortly.
Previously, the BJP had made it clear that the NDA would participate in the elections under the leadership of outgoing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Bihar has 243 Assembly seats and state elections are scheduled and scheduled for October-November, as the term of the current Assembly will end by November. The Election Commission has yet to take a final call on polling dates in Bihar.
