Sixty security personnel have been deployed and eight Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras installed at the suspected gangrap victim in his village in the Bulgarhi region here to ensure the safety of his family members, the police said on Friday. police.
DIG Shalabh Mathur, who was dispatched to Hathras from Lucknow as a nodal officer, told the PTI that if necessary, a control room would also be established there.
“Sixty staff, including women, were deployed on 12 hour shifts for the safety of the victim’s family. An official agent will also be deployed to monitor these personnel. With the help of CCTV cameras, the victim’s house will be monitored 24 hours a day.
Hathras (SP) Police Superintendent Vineet Jaiswal said a visitor register is kept by police at the entrance to the house.
Two security personnel were provided to each family member and witness for their personal safety, he said, adding that a team of firefighters and two members of local intelligence units were also deployed there.
“At the main entrance to the house, a metal detector has been installed and rapid response teams are also in place. With the help of eight CCTV cameras, security is ensured,” said the SP.
The 19-year-old Dalit woman was reportedly gangraped on September 14, after which she was admitted to JN Medical College Hospital in Aligarh with serious injuries. She was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on September 28 after her condition showed no signs of improving.
She died on nest day at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi where she was taken for treatment. The victim was cremated in the middle of the night near his home on September 30.
Her family said they were forced by local police to perform their final rites in a hurry. Local police officers, however, said the cremation was carried out “according to the wishes of the family”.
The state government has previously recommended a CBI investigation into the matter and citing FSL reports, it has denied the rape charges.
