New Delhi:

CBI resumed the search for a 12-year-old girl from Haryana after the Center referred the case to her almost two years after her disappearance, officials said on Tuesday.

The daughter of a worker in Mohanpur village, Rewari district, state state, went missing on June 27, 2018 after going out to buy snacks. “There hasn’t been any news from my daughter since. I had approached the ‘Lambardar’ who had suggested a CBI probe. I don’t know much. Has the CBI started its investigation?” the girl’s father told PTI over the phone.

The case reached the investigative agency at a slow pace, with the Haryana government’s Home Office recommending a CBI investigation into the case on September 18, 2019, nearly 15 months after the girl went missing. .

It took another six months for the Center to refer the case to the CBI on March 11, 2020.

The agency finally registered an FIR in the case on Monday.

The girl’s father had told Haryana police that he tried to locate his daughter by investigating friends and relatives, but to no avail.

He also said he did not suspect anyone in the matter.

The CBI tasked its Special Crime Unit to locate the child.
