New Delhi:

A CBI special court, which heard the Babri Mosque demolition case on Saturday, ordered the National Informatics Center (NIC) to arrange for videoconference to record the statements of nine accused, including the former vice Prime Minister LK Advani.

“The NIC must be drafted to ensure the installation of videoconferencing in the accused’s home, the list of which is attached to this order,” said special judge SK Yadav.

The registry, in accordance with the order, will send a communication to the NIC which reports to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The list includes the names of BJP LK Advani veterans, Murli Manohar Joshi, former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Kalyan Singh; Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Acharya Dharmendra Dev, RN Srivastava, Jai Bhagwan Goel, Amar Nath Goel and Sudhir Kakkad.
These defendants must testify under article 313 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

The court prepared a list of approximately 1,000 questions to ask almost all of the accused. The Court of First Instance formulated the questions on the basis of the evidence produced by the CBI prosecution concerning the complicity of the accused.

“The special court informs an accused of the specific facts and evidence that occurred during the trial against him and then asks him to speak about what he wants to say about it,” said counsel for the CBI, Lalit Singh.

“In this way, the court asked about 1,000 questions of the 13 accused who have filed their cases so far, and the court could follow a similar procedure with the rest of the accused,” added Singh.

In the list, Mr. Advani is proposed to testify before the special court on June 30; Mr. Joshi on July 1; Kalyan Singh on July 2; RN Srivastava on June 22; Mahant Nritya Gopal Das on June 23; Jai Bhagwan Das on June 24; Amar Nath Goel on June 25; Sudhir Kakkad on June 26; and Acharya Dharmendra Dev on June 29.
