A case was recorded on Sunday against an elderly journalist and her accomplice in Bhopal in connection with the alleged rape of four girls and a woman, police said.

Police arrested the accused woman while the man is missing, an official said.

Police called the child helpline and then interviewed the girls, who told them that a man named Pyare Miya had invited them to a birthday party on Saturday and Sunday night in an apartment under the Shahpura police station in the city.

One of the girls told police that she had been raped by the man there. The remaining four victims said they had also been raped in the same apartment by the accused on previous occasions, said Thota.

Ratibad police station sub-inspector Sanjeev Jakhar said Pyare Miya was a journalist.
