The Bombay High Court on Friday called on the Maharashtra government for banning people over 65 from shooting and participating in any work related to the shooting due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A division bench of Judge SJ Kathawala and Judge Riyaz Chagla tagged two petitions, filed by the Indian Association of Motion Picture Producers (IMPPA) and actor Pramod Pandey, and scheduled a new hearing on July 29.

The court asked attorney for the state government Purnima Kanthariya if there were any provisions to prevent a 70-year-old store owner from working in his store, to which Mr. Kanthariya responded by saying “he there was not “.

The court, after considering all the facts of the case, appointed lead lawyer Sharad Jagtiani as amicus curiae in the matter. The IMPPA and Pande were represented by lawyer Ashok Saraogi.

“According to the list available with the petitioner, thousands of people over the age of 65 were involved in the filming of programs before the lockdown. The shoots of these films and programs were left in between due to unavailability. of these people, ”one of the calls said.

He said the directive in this matter was impractical and unfair, as in no other profession this condition was imposed.
