New Delhi:
A day after the BJP-JD (U) alliance won assembly polls in Bihar, BJP secretary general and state official Bhupender Yadav said on Wednesday that the NDA had been deceived by its former LJP member of Chirag Paswan during the elections and the confusion. created by them caused losses.
Mr Yadav also said that the credibility of Prime Minister Narendra Modi were the main factors behind the NDA’s victory in the polls, while the advice of the main union minister Amit Shah and the presence on the ground of the party chairman JP Nadda also made a significant contribution.
Addressing the Lok Janshakti party, Yadav said the party had lost its credibility and there were question marks over its policies.
“The LJP has chosen its own path and in a way it has deceived the NDA. The people of Bihar have communicated to them their importance in state politics,” he said.
Shattered by all this confusion, the people of Bihar have rested their faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and credibility and this is the great achievement that the NDA has won for the fourth time in the state.
“Modiji’s leadership and his credibility was the main reason for the NDA’s victory in the state,” he said.
When asked why the NDA couldn’t repeat its performance of Lok Sabha in Bihar assembly polls, Mr Yadav said every election is different and central and state elections take place on issues different.
In addition, there were local reasons, he added.
In assembly elections, voters have different preferences and there are local issues, while the dynamics of state politics are also different from national politics, he said.
“In terms of social equations, our alliance was in a strong position and the NDA government had also done development work statewide. But by continually telling lies, the LJP created confusion and caused losses for BJP-JD (U) in the first phase, ”he said.
There were also local state issues, due to which the NDA got a few fewer seats, but the alliance managed to secure a clear majority in the state, Yadav said.
On what could be the reasons for the underperformance of JD (U), Mr Yadav said that the NDA government has been in place for three terms in Bihar and that to seek a term for the fourth term on the basis of development .
“JD (U) contested well, but they also paid the price for the confusion created by the LJP. The LJP vitiated the atmosphere they shouldn’t have. They were also part of the NDA. The party also enjoyed a ministerial position and reaped benefits from the alliance in the Lok Sabha elections, ”Yadav said.
Downplaying the possibilities of any guard change in the state, Mr. Yadav said, “The NDA has won the full majority and we respect the Dharma of Collation. And in the covenant, we believe that all are equal.”
Speaking about Tejashwi Yadav and RJD’s performance, the BJP leader said they were given the mandate to sit in the opposition and they should respect that and play their part.
Regarding the performance of left parties in the state, he said: “The rise of left parties in Bihar is worrying as they believe in class conflict, which can disrupt harmony in the state.”
The results of the three-phase polls of the Bihar assembly were released on Tuesday evening. The NDA, which includes BJP-JD (U) with HAM and VIP, went through the tough competition and secured a simple majority with 125 seats.
Their main challenger, the grand alliance led by RJD, secured 110 seats in the hotly contested competition.
