Chennai:
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami on Wednesday hailed the NDA alliance in Bihar for posting a victory in the recently concluded assembly elections, saying residents of the eastern state have reaffirmed their solidarity for the coalition.
The chief minister also said that good governance leads to a progressive state.
The chairman of the DMK, MK Stalin, also congratulated Nitish Kumar on his re-election as Chief Minister of Bihar.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising the BJP and Janata Dal (United) led by Nitish Kumar, returned to power in the state with a slim majority, securing 125 seats in the 243-member Assembly.
The opposition Grand Alliance, led by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, waged a fierce battle in the 2020 Bihar Assembly polls, managing to win 110 Assembly segments.
Speaking to the microblogging site, Tamil Nadu CM tweeted: “Good governance leads to a progressive state. The people of Bihar reaffirmed their solidarity for the NDA alliance. My warm congratulations on the NDA alliance in the state. Best wishes for the people of Bihar. “
Opposition leader in state assembly MP Stalin also said in a tweet: “Warm congratulations to @NitishKumar on being re-elected as Chief Minister of Bihar.”
On behalf of the DMK, he conveyed his best wishes to the government of Nitish Kumar to lead Bihar on the path of equitable, just and inclusive development.
MP Stalin, however, claimed that the conduct of the elections during COVID-19 is a testament to the steadfastness of our democracy.
“Nonetheless, the allegations of professional misconduct raised by the leaders of the Mahagathbandan are of deep concern. The hope of every Indian that the elections will be free, fair and impartial must not be denied,” he said.
In another tweet, he said, “The remarkable performance of the RJD in becoming the largest party in Bihar inspires confidence in our democracy. I warmly congratulate @yadavtejashwi for leading the RJD. On behalf of DMK, I wish him and RJD a bright future. “
