US Elections: Bernie Sanders Sanders dropped out of the presidential race earlier this year.
The words of Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders almost two weeks ago about the conduct of the US presidential election and Donald Trump’s reaction seem to have become prophetic with the unfolding of the counting process and the drama.
A clip of his predictions during an interview has been viewed over 27 million times in the past 24 hours.
Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last month, Mr Sanders, 79, was asked about when he thinks the election results will be known. He predicted that there could be an influx of ballots mailed this election and that this could cause a delay in the counting process to be completed.
“You’re going to have the situation that I suspect in the states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, other states where they’re going to receive huge amounts of mail-in ballots. He had said Democrats are more likely to use mail-in ballots and Republicans are more likely to enter voting booths on election day.
“It might just be that at 10 a.m. on election night, Trump wins in Michigan, he wins in Pennsylvania, he wins in Wisconsin, and he’s on TV and says, ‘Thank you Americans for re-electing me. “It’s over, have a nice day,” Mr. Sanders said.
And that’s exactly how it all went yesterday.
Mr Trump has falsely declared victory over Democratic rival Joe Biden, with millions of votes still uncounted in the tight race for the White House. The president said he would go to the Supreme Court. “We were about to win this election. Frankly, we won this election,” Trump said at a special White House press conference at 2:30 a.m.
“This is a major fraud for our nation. We want the law to be used appropriately. So we are going to go to the US Supreme Court. We want all votes to cease,” Mr. Trump said.
In the October interview, Bernie Sanders said Mr Biden ended up winning states that had high ballots, which prompted Mr Trump to respond with fraud charges.
Mr Sanders had said, “But then the next day and the next day all of those mail-in ballots start to count and it turns out Biden won these states. At what point does Trump say, ‘See? I told the whole thing was fraudulent. I told you these mailed ballots were twisted. You know, we are not going to quit. “
