BJP MP Arjun Singh said his vehicle was damaged by supporters of the Trinamool Congress when he left for a meeting in Halishahar on Sunday, a charge denied by the ruling party.
“I went to a meeting there, but as soon as I joined him, TMC supporters started to throw bricks at my vehicle,” Singh told reporters.
Denying the claim, local head of the TMC, Subodh Adhikari, said it was the BJP MP who had caused the attack.
He alleged that BJP workers damaged the TMC office in Halishahar and also injured two party supporters.
District police officials have made no statement about the incident.
