The Assam government has decided to set up a plasma bank in Guwahati in the next four to five days, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Wednesday.
“We have decided to create a plasma bank in Guwahati in the next four to five days. We have already installed a plasma separator at Guwahati Medical College. I think that next week we can start plasma treatment,” said he said at a press conference.
The minister said the government will launch the new test model called COVID-19 AG test in the next two to three days.
“Yesterday, Interior Minister Amit Shah called me. According to the Indian government’s assessment, the situation of COVID-19 in Guwahati is not very good. Following his meeting with DG ICMR, the Minister of the Interior ordered me to change the test model, “said Sarma. said.
“The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has proposed a new test model under which we will be able to report results within an hour. We will launch the new test model called COVID-19 AG test in both next three days, “he said.
Earlier Monday, Delhi’s chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, said a “plasma bank” would be established in the nation’s capital to help treat COVID-19 patients.
