New Delhi:
Arvind Kejriwal is in self-quarantine and could be tested for coronavirus after complaints of mild fever and sore throat, Press Trust of India said today. The chief minister of Delhi is said to have canceled all of his meetings.
Kejriwal, 51, has been sick since Sunday afternoon, said PTI. According to reports, he has not met anyone since then.
He isolated himself at his official home in Delhi, the ANI news agency said.
On Sunday, the chief minister addressed a very brief digital press conference at noon to announce a new policy of reserving hospital beds for residents of Delhi. He was seen wearing a mask.
Amid complaints from coronavirus patients or suspected patients being denied hospital beds, Kejriwal said hospitals run by the Delhi government and some private hospitals would only be reserved for residents of the capital .
He also said Delhi would reopen its borders, which were sealed in the first place “with the expectation that our hospitals will be inundated with people from other states”.
Delhi has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases and more than 1,000 new cases a day in the past few days. There are more than 27,600 cases in the capital.
