New Delhi:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has asked the center to deploy doctors and health personnel from the Indo-Tibetan border police and police (ITBP) to the next 10,000-bed coronavirus facility, which is considered as the largest in the world. In a letter, he also urged Interior Minister Amit Shah to inspect the large COVID-19 treatment center.

In response to Mr. Kejriwal, the Union Minister assured that the facility will start operating by June 26.

“Dear Kejriwal Ji, it was already decided at our meeting 3 days ago and the MHA entrusted the work of operating the 10,000-bed COVID care center to Radha Swami Beas in Delhi to the ITBP. work is in full swing and a large part of the installation will be operational on June 26, “he tweeted.

The Delhi government, struggling with a shortage of COVID-19 beds amid a wave of coronavirus cases, has converted the Radha Soami Spiritual Center into a massive COVID-19 facility. The center of Chhatarpur has a covered area of 12 50,000 square feet, as large as 22 football fields, with pre-installed fans and CCTV cameras. It will have nearly 200 speakers of 50 beds each.

The facility was used until recently to house migrant workers. Its community kitchens are semi-industrial and can feed thousands of people at a time.

Mr. Shah, in a series of tweets, assured the people of Delhi that many more COVID-19 beds will be provided in the coming days.

“I also want to inform the people of Delhi that a full-fledged 1,000 bed hospital with 250 intensive care beds is being developed for Covid patients. DRDO and Tata Trust are building the center. Armed Forces will manage it. This Covid Care center will be ready in the next 10 days, “he said.

Earlier this month, the Delhi government’s decision to reserve COVID-19 beds for residents was overturned by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, who represents the center. Kejriwal later warned that the national capital would need 1.5 liter lakh by July 31.

Last week, Delhi overtook Tamil Nadu as the second worst coronavirus-affected state in the country. On Monday, it registered 2,909 new cases, taking stock of the city above 62,000.

Shah had a meeting Sunday with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on the coronavirus situation, where it was decided to conduct a more “robust” contact search, to reorganize the overall strategy of the containment zone and to strengthen medical services in the areas most affected by the virus. Every death must be reported to the center, the Delhi government has been told.
