Itanagar:
Arunachal Pradesh Minister Pema Khandu said today that there have been no reports of conflict between Indian and Chinese troops in the state, which shares a 1,080 km border with China.
Khandu’s comments come in the middle of the border with China in Ladakh and other regions, and reports of clashes between Indian army personnel and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) .
The chief minister described the Ladakh incident as “unfortunate”, especially since it coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic. But, he said, there is no “warlike” situation between the two countries on the state border.
“We are well prepared to face any type of situation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is capable of facing any situation. The Defense Ministry has already made its position clear (on the matter)”, said said Mr. Khandu, and asked the people not to panic.
“The situation along the Arunachal border is calm and normal,” he added.
The Indian military on Sunday rejected the authenticity of a video on social media showing alleged clashes between Chinese and Indian troops in eastern Ladakh.
“The content of the video broadcast is not authenticated. Attempting to link it to the situation at the northern borders is a mistake. Currently, no violence is happening,” the army said in a statement.
He said the differences between the two sides are dealt with through the interaction between military commanders in accordance with established protocols on border dispute management between the two countries.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Interior Minister Amit Shah said diplomatic and military dialogues are underway with China on the current border.
