Puri:
Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik on Sunday created a 25-foot-long sculpture of US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, congratulating them on the historic victory over incumbent Donald Trump in the US election .
“This is a sculpture 25 feet long and 10 tons of sand was used. I created this to congratulate new US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris,” Pattnaik told the ANI news agency.
The sand artist says it took six hours to create the sculpture on a Puri beach in Odisha.
“We are very pleased that a woman of Indian descent has been elected for the first time as vice-president. I would like to congratulate Kamala Harris,” said Mr Pattnaik.
On November 6, Pattnaik pointed out the dilemma of millions of people eagerly awaiting the final results of the US election through sand art.
Biden, defeated Trump in a hotly contested election and will be the 46th President of the United States. At 78, he is the longest-serving president-elect in United States history.
In his third attempt at the White House, Biden, a Washington figure of four decades as senator and then vice president, received more than 74 million votes, four million more than Trump and more than any other candidate for the presidential election.
Kamala Harris is also the first woman, black American and Asian-American to become vice president of the United States.
