New Delhi:

Producer Anushka Sharma is on a roll. Friday, Anushka dropped the trailer from Bulbbul, an original Netflix to come, a horror thriller, produced by her, and just said: “What if our childhood bedtime stories come true?” Those preparing to watch a preview of a bedtime story should know that Bulbbul is actually “a fairy tale like no other.” Located in Bengal in the 19th century, the history of Bulbbul begins with a child marriage. The protagonist named Bulbbul, played by actress Tripti Dimri, lands in a huge palace after her marriage to Mahendra (Rahul Bose), who is several years older. During her transition from a bride to the woman of the house, Bulbbul connects with Mahendra Satya’s brother, played by Avinash Tiwary, as a confidant.

During her several years of conjugal life, Bulbbul’s penchant for Satya became more and more evident, and was finally noticed by Rahul Bose. Soon, Satya leaves the palace for five years and returns to discover mysterious events around her ancestral home. Mahendra, who is shown as a character with violent features, is found murdered. Bulbbul once told the story of a witch and after Mahendra’s death, people are convinced that the heinous crime was committed by the witch. But soon the trailer alludes to human intervention in the crimes taking place around the village.

Actors Paoli Dam and Parambrata Chattopadhyay describe key roles in the trailer.

Bulbbul due out on Netflix on June 24. Anushka Sharma also recently produced the original series from Amazon Prime Paatal lok, which was a huge success.
