Anupam Kher reveals the story behind this photo with Robert De Niro

Anupam Kher’s latest Instagram post talks about his “most priceless possession” – a photo with The famous Hollywood actor Robert De Niro. Anupam Kher worked with Robert De Niro in the 2012 film Silver Linings Playbook, with Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper as leaders. Since then, he has shared photos of his memorable encounters with The Godfather star. On Tuesday, Anupam Kher shared one of those photos from his album, which features him with the theater legend posing in a similar fashion, and revealed the story behind it. He also explained why working with Robert De Niro in the David O Russell-directed film was like a dream come true for him.

Anupam Kher began his post like this: “Story of this photo: There will not be a single actor in the world, aspiring or established, who will not be a huge fan of this legendary phenomenal actor, Robert De Niro. As a drama school student, I did a special article on two of his previous films – Middle streets (1973) and Taxi driver (1976). Never in my wildest dreams had I ever thought in 1977 that one day I will have the opportunity not only to work with him in Silver Linings Playbook but will also have the chance to call him my friend. This photo was taken in his New York apartment by David O Russell, director of Silver Linings Playbook. “

The 65-year-old actor then revealed how he and Robert De Niro ended up striking the same pose on camera. “As always, I had requested a photo and as always he was obliging. At that point, I thought it would be cool to point my finger in appreciation at the caption of the photo. And then almost in slow motion, I saw his hand coming up and pointing his finger at me in the same way. Miraculously, David clicked on the photo at that exact moment. And I put my name in the story with this photo. For me, this will always be my most priceless possession, ”Anupam Kher added. Anupam Kher, who turned 65 on March 7 of this year, celebrated his birthday with Robert De Niro in New York, where he lived until his return to India, just before the imposition of the national lockdown. He shared a video from his birthday celebrations, in which the Hollywood star can be seen singing “Happy Birthday” to him as he cuts the cake. “Nothing could be more magical for an actor than being able to spend quality time on his birthday with the ‘God of Comedian Robert De Niro’ for the third year in a row. I am honored that Mr. De Niro has accepted my lunch invitation. It was wonderful, “Anupam Kher captioned the video.

He was last seen in the 2019 crime thriller One day: justice served in which he co-starred with Esha Gupta, Kumud Mishra and Anusmriti Sarkar.
