YS Rajsekhara Reddy: birthday of former minister of Andhra Pradesh Chieef on July 8
Andhra Pradesh celebrates Farmers Day on the anniversary of the birth of former chief minister YS Rajsekhara Reddy and the father of Jagan Mohan Reddy. YS Rajsekhara Reddy, popularly known as YSR, was known to be a great mass leader.
Chief Minister Jagan Reddy paid tribute to his father today on his 71st birthday. “He (YS Rajsekhara Reddy) will live in people’s hearts through health programs, 104, 108 ambulance services and farmer-specific programs,” Jagan Reddy wrote on Twitter. In 2019, Reddy announced that every year July 8 would be celebrated as Farmers Day in the state.
In tribute to YS Rajsekhara Reddy, the government of Andhra Pradesh launched on Wednesday 412 new ambulances, replacing the older ones, as part of the emergency service “ Dial 108 ” and also introduced 656 new mobile medical units. Services 108 and 104 were first introduced into the state by YS Rajasekhara Reddy, during his tenure as chief minister of former Andhra Pradesh, from 2004 to 2009.
Chief Minister Jagan Reddy is in Kadapa to pay tribute to his father at YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya, the birthplace of YS Rajsekhara Reddy, according to a report by the Press Trust of India news agency. Reddy is also slated to inaugurate a new building complex and to lay the groundwork for a solar project.
Many leaders have paid tribute to YS Rajsekhara Reddy on social networks.
Minister of State Botcha Satyanarayana said that YS Rajasekhara Reddy had created “a lasting transformational impact with various reforms … He will always be remembered and he will be cherished in the hearts of people”.

YS Rajsekhara Reddy was known to be the master of electoral politics and close to the people of his state. He entered active politics in 1978 and has been elected five times to the National Assembly and four times to the Lok Sabha. He had never lost an election. YS Rajsekhara Reddy died in a helicopter accident on September 2, 2009.
