New Delhi:
Renowned industrialist Anand Mahindra took to Twitter today to say hello to a young Delhi ballet dancer who is pursuing his dreams in the UK despite a number of challenges and hardships.
Sharing a newspaper clip from the man’s journey, which the chairman of the Mahindra group got from his friend, he tweeted that he applauded the man’s talent.
The newspaper clipping is about Kamal Singh, 20, who is the son of an electric rickshaw driver in Vikaspuri, and how he funded his costs for a top ballet school in the UK. Its course lasts a year and costs 8,000 pounds. There are other additional costs of living and travel.
Mr Singh, who says he didn’t even know what ballet was until he was 17, raised £ 20,000 from the Ketto fundraising platform in just 14 days.
“A friend in the UK sent me this clipping… The son of an electronic rickshaw driver from Delhi enters the UK’s most prestigious ballet school. In the midst of a global lockdown, we see a young man unlocking his whole world & his future. I stand up and applaud, “tweeted Anand Mahindra, 65, of the man’s exceptional journey.
