Bankura:
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday had lunch with a BJP tribal worker in Chaturdihi village in Bankura district.
It was a vegetarian platter of Bengali specialties, served on a plate with a banana leaf on it.
Sitting on the floor of Bibhishan Hansda’s house, Mr. Shah had rice, roti, dal, “patol bhaja“(pointed squash fry),”shukto“(slightly bitter mixed vegetable stew),”alu-posto“(potato cooked in a paste of poppy seeds), and”papad“.
Although sweets such as “rosogolla“,”Sandesh“and”mishti doi“were there on the menu, the chef of BJP refused to have these desserts.
Mr. Shah was accompanied by BJP National Secretary General Kailash Vijayvergiya, BJP National Vice President Mukul Roy and State Party Leader Dilip Ghosh.

No words can express their warmth and hospitality.

After lunch, Mr. Shah sat on a charpoy and had a brief interaction with family members and locals who gave him a warm welcome. They blew conch shells and beat drums as he negotiated a narrow muddy road through the village to reach Mr. Hansda’s house.
Mr. Hansda said it was an honor for him to welcome Mr. Shah and that it would be one of the most memorable days of his life.
Mr. Shah, who is on a two-day tour of the state, arrived in Bankura this morning to take stock of the party’s organization in the district.
The assembly election is expected to take place in the state in April-May next year.
Mr. Shah is to hold organizational meetings in the district and meet with representatives of various communities and social groups.
Bankura, dominated by tribal and backward communities, is one of many districts where the BJP made a deep inroads in the 2019 elections in Lok Sabha. He pocketed the two parliamentary seats in the district.
