Hyderabad:
Bolstered by the outcome of the Bihar Assembly elections, Asaduddin Owaisi’s party – All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen or AIMIM, which won five seats, is now seeking to extend its wings to states like Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad, Owaisi said his party would fight for justice in the Seemanchal area of Bihar.
Reacting to allegations his party is dividing anti-BJP votes, Mr Owaisi said he heads a political party that has the right to run on his own.
“You mean we shouldn’t fight the elections. You (Congress) went to sit on Shiv Sena’s lap (in Maharashtra). If someone asks you why did you fight the elections … I will fight in West Bengal, in Uttar Pradesh and I will fight all election in the country ”, he declared.
“Should I ask anyone’s permission to fight the ballot box?” He said when asked if the party would run in another state.
However, he did not say whether the party would stand alone or in alliance with other parties.
“AIMIM will fight in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2022. Time will tell who we will ally ourselves with,” Owaisi added.
Attacking West Bengal Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for allegedly branding AIMIM a ‘voice cutter’ in Bihar polls, Mr Owaisi sought to find out what he had done for the welfare Muslims in his constituency.
“… Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury must answer why the condition of Muslims is so bad in his own constituency. He must say what he has done for the Muslims,” he said.
“AIMIM will fight the polls in West Bengal. AIMIM is coming to Bengal,” he added.
Asaduddin Owaisi is often criticized by Congress and other parties allegedly as the BJP’s “B team”.
AIMIM, led by Asaduddin Owaisi, appears to have significantly reduced the voting time of the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan in the Seemanchal region in the third phase of the polls, according to poll experts.
The party led by the Hyderabad MP ran for 20 seats in Bihar’s elections, the majority of which went to the polls in the third phase on November 7, as part of the secular Grand Democratic Front which has four other parties, including Rashtriya Lok Samta from Upendra Kushwaha. Bahujan Samaj Party and Party.
The victory of the five-seat party became irrelevant in terms of financial support in the event of a suspended assembly, as the NDA clearly became the winner.
According to statistics provided by the Election Commission of India, AIMIM got 1.24% over 4 crore of votes – an increase from its performance in the Assembly elections in 2015, when it got less 0.5% of the vote in Bihar.
