Lucknow:

Samajwadi party leader Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday expressed condolences for the death of former party leader Amar Singh and said he had been deprived of his affection.

The two had differences and Akhilesh Yadav’s rise in the party was seen as a reason Mr. Singh split from the Samajwadi party after his return in 2016.

“Being deprived of Amar SinghjiAkhilesh Yadav said in a tweet. He also posted a photo of himself, Amar Singh and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Amar Singh was expelled due to the fallout from the crisis in the Samajwadi party ahead of the last assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

In a veiled reference to Amar Singh, Mr. Akhilesh blamed a “foreigner” for the crisis in the party that came to light after stripping his uncle Shivpal Yadav of key ministerial portfolios.

Ram Gopal Yadav, a party leader loyal to Akhilesh Yadav, also attacked Singh, saying some people accused him of taking advantage of party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav’s simple nature.

Mr. Singh, in a later interview, described Akhilesh Yadav as “Aurangzeb”.

Mr Singh also recalled his contribution to Akhilesh Yadav’s life and said he went to Australia for his studies and helped make him president of the state.
