Digging through four years of demonetization, Samajwadi party leader Akhilesh Yadav said on Sunday that counterfeit banknotes were still in circulation and corruption had increased.
“After four years of demonetization, the counterfeit bills are still there. Corruption has increased. There is no black money ‘hisaab’. People don’t have 15 lakh rupees in their accounts,” he said. Akhilesh Yadav said in a Hindi tweet.
The SP chief’s tweet came hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that the Center’s ticket ban in 2016 helped reduce black money, increase tax compliance and ensure transparency .
On November 8, 2016, Prime Minister Modi announced the decision to ban banknotes with a higher denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000.
On Twitter Sunday, Prime Minister Modi listed the beneficial results of demonetization.
