Lucknow:

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday announced a Diwali bonus for 14.82 lakh state government employees, an official said.

There has been a lot of speculation about the bonus declaration amid the economic situation due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the Adityanath government has chosen in its favor, the official said.

This will result in a liability of Rs 1,023 crore on the state government. All state employees not registered with the Gazette, staff at government-funded educational institutions, local agencies and district panchayats, as well as daily bets will be covered, according to the official.

Like last year, 75% of the bonus amount will be credited to the contingency fund and 25% will be paid in cash. Employees not affiliated to the PF will receive national savings certificates of this amount.
