Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic death on Sunday sparked mental health conversation and also encouraged some to share their personal experiences with depression and mental illness. One day after Mr. Rajput, 34, was found dead at his home in Mumbai, actress Shamita Shetty revealed in an Instagram post that she is battling depression and urged anyone struggling with her own mental health to seek help. Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide, police said. No suicide note has been found and an investigation is underway, according to the PTI news agency.
Shamita Shetty’s note begins: “Depression … each of us can live there.” She describes the effects of mental illness in the most visceral way: “It tries to break you down, it feeds on all parts of your soul, everything hurts, you become your worst enemy in this dark and terrible world.”
Ms. Shetty says that she speaks from experience: “I know the pain because I experienced it. It took me a while to recognize and accept it, to find courage, to look straight at it. eyes and say I’m stronger than you, I’m going to beat you. “
Shamita Shetty urged those struggling to maintain their balance to get help. “Do not try to fight this alone, reach out. Know that there are people who have gone through everything you are going through. Reach out to your loved ones, seek psychiatric help and fight it. And when you do, let me tell you from experience, it makes you a very strong person, “she wrote.
