A 10-year-old rape accused has been arrested by Hisar on Monday, a police spokesman for Haryana said.
“Since 2010, the accused has changed places or even changed jobs to escape arrest. However, the rape accused was arrested on Sunday after 10 years of crime from Hansi to Hisar,” he said.
The spokesman said that the accused, identified as Suresh aka Kalia, a Hansi resident, had raped in September 2010 a woman who lived in a village temple.
A case in this regard was registered at the Sadar Hansi police station and the accused has been on the run since then, he said.
Investigations have revealed that after committing the crime, the accused fled to Delhi and continued to change jobs to escape arrest.
He worked as a flower seller, driver and also worked in a private company in the national capital. He remained hidden there for about 10 years, he said.
During the investigation, the court also declared him to be an offender in 2012. In July 2018, the police announced a cash reward of 25,000 rupees upon his arrest.
