A 25-year-old woman was run over to death by a BEST speeding bus on SV Road in the western suburbs of Jogeshwari, police said on Wednesday.
Police arrested the bus driver for reckless and careless driving, an official said.
The incident took place Tuesday morning when Femina Sheikh, an employee of a bank based in Bandra, was going to work on a motorbike with her brother Dilshad, said the official.
The two-wheeler skidded, causing the duo to fall and a high-speed bus crushed Femina to death, he said, adding that the victim’s brother was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
“We arrested bus driver K Chelladurei Koi Pillai under sections 304-A (negligent death) and 279 (reckless and negligent driving) of the IPC and the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act”, said Chief Inspector Dayanand Bangar from the Oshiwara Police Station.
