Kendrapara, Odisha:
An 85-year-old cancer patient and his wife in his seventies have recovered from COVID-19 in the Kendrapara district of Odisha, officials said on Saturday.
Surendra Pati, who suffers from throat cancer, and his wife Sabitri, 78, were cured of COVID-19 and both were released from a medical facility, said Kendrapara district collector Samarth Verma.
“… they inspire a lot to overcome the disease. Our best wishes to them,” tweeted the collector.
The man was admitted to the Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Center in Cuttack on June 8 for chemotherapy, while his wife attended to him in hospital.

On June 29, both tested positive for COVID-19, said MH Beig, Kendrapara District Additional Medical Advisor (ADMO).
The couple were admitted to a designated COVID-19 hospital in Cuttack. After undergoing treatment for 10 days, they were released when they tested negative for the infection, he said.
The couple was then housed in a COVID-19 care center in the Bagada gram panchayat area in the Kendrapara block as a precaution, said Beig, adding that he had been released from the facility Friday.
“The couple, especially Surendra Pati, have led the battle against the coronavirus with courage and determination despite their advanced age. Cancer patients have low levels of immunity,” he said.
The couple sent a strong and clear message that COVID-19 can be defeated, added ADMO.
