The number of coronavirus cases in India has climbed to 73.7 lakh after another peak of 67,708 COVID-19 infections in the past 24 hours, according to government data this morning.
The number of deaths stood at 1,11,266 after 680 deaths recorded in one day. The death rate is 1.5%.
About 63.8 lakh patients in the country have recovered so far; 81,514 patients have recovered since yesterday, pushing its cure rate to 87.4%.
India now has 8.12 lakh active cases and a daily positivity rate of 6%, with India having performed over 11.3 lakh tests in the past 24 hours, and over 9.1 crore tests in total until now.
India remains the second most affected country in the world behind the United States, which has 79.1 lakh coronavirus cases with more than 2 lakh deaths.
