6,767 cases of coronavirus in 24 hours, the biggest one-day peak in India

India has recorded more than 3,800 deaths related to COVID-19.

New Delhi:

India recorded the largest one-day jump in the number of coronavirus cases, as 6,767 new patients were reported in the past 24 hours. This is the third consecutive day in which India has reported over 6,000 cases of COVID-19 with a record number of new patients every day. The county has officially recorded 1,31868 cases and 3,867 deaths from the highly infectious disease since the start of the pandemic. Of these, 147 patients have died in the past 24 hours.

India reported a record number of new patients over five days this week after the lockout was eased in several parts of India at the start of the fourth phase of closure. While 5,242 cases were recorded on Monday, 5,611 were reported on Wednesday, 6,088 cases on Friday and 6,654 cases were recorded on Saturday.

The global number of new cases of coronavirus has exceeded 5.25 million with more than 339,000 deaths. Since the outbreak of the epidemic in China in December, 5,260,970 cases have been recorded in 196 countries and territories, with 339,758 deaths attributed to the virus.
