Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (Chhattisgarh):
A minor boy has been arrested and the search for another is underway for allegedly raping a minor girl in a village in Chhattisgarh, police said on Friday.
Pratibha Pandey, Assistant Police Superintendent (ASP), said the boys told the girl that she was HIV-positive for COVID-19 and took her out of the house on the pretext of getting medication from a nearby hospital.
“The case came to light after a girl’s younger brother informed her parents that local boys had taken her sister to the hospital to get medication to treat COVID-19. After arriving home , the daughter informed the family that the two boys raped her, “said Ms. Pandey.
“We have registered a case against the two boys after receiving complaints from the girl’s mother. We have registered a case under POCSO and other laws,” she added.
The search for another accused minor is underway, she said.
