Mathura:
An 11-year-old boy was allegedly murdered and his body dumped in a bush near Jawahar Bagh in Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh because a ransom of Rs 5 lakh was not paid on time by the father, a the police announced Monday.
A 26-year-old defendant identified as Lokesh alias Pillu was arrested in connection with the case on Sunday, they added.
According to a complaint filed by Kailashi, a resident of Aurangabad in the Sadar Bazar police station area, his son Roopesh had left his home to play matches on Saturday afternoon but had not returned home.
An FIR was recorded on Saturday evening when all efforts to locate Roopesh failed.
Five teams were pushed into action to locate the child when a ransom call was received by the father on Sunday morning, SSP Gaurav Grover said.
Kailashi, a mason by profession, informed the police of the appeal received for a ransom of Rs 5 lakh to free the child from his captivity.
Based on the call, the whereabouts of the accused was found and Lokesh was arrested, he said.
During questioning, he revealed the whereabouts of the boy’s body.
“On the confession of 26-year-old Lokesh, alias Pillu, who is also a resident of the Aurangabad area, the child’s body was found,” police said.
They said Lokesh was a frequent visitor to Kailashi’s house and that he is further questioned to verify other facts.
An autopsy will be carried out by a team of doctors who will be videotaped.
